Handcrafted Soaps

Our hand-crafted soaps are made with the purest organic ingredients available. We use no synthetic fragrances or chemicals – just basic ingredients like extra virgin olive oil, unrefined coconut oil, lye, water, essential oils, and farm-grown flowers and herbs. We decline to use any type of palm oil when making soaps due to negative environmental and social impacts.

It is a kind of alchemy to make soap. A few ingredients transform over time, and a new creation emerges! You will notice an immediate difference the first time you use handmade soap after a lifetime of commercially made soaps. The finished soaps are 1/3 glycerin, which produces a soft, gentle soap. The addition of ingredients such as essential oils, powdered herbs, shea butter or natural exfoliants (we commonly use poppy seeds, almond kernel meal, shredded coconut, coffee grinds, flower petals, and oatmeal) customize each soap.

Care and Keeping of Your Soap:

Keep out of direct spray of water. The best way to store it is standing up on end, on a dish that will allow drainage. Wood or bamboo works best. (You can purchase a cedar soap dish from the farm store.)

Between uses, store it in a dry spot – that is, not on the ledge inside the shower stall. You want it to dry between uses.

Cut your bar into two or three pieces. Rewrap the pieces you aren't using, and keep them away from heat, light, and humidity. It's best to keep them out of the bathroom. A linen closet or sock drawer works nicely.

Your soap will last longer if you lather with a washcloth as opposed to rubbing the soap directly onto skin.
